Esnagi Lake is approximately 45 kms (27 miles) long and produces exceptional quantities and size of Walleye, Northern Pike and Whitefish.
This long lake provides guests with a multitude of shoals, points, weed beds, drop offs and holes to target their favourite species.
No matter what fish you are after, Esnagi Lake will not disappoint!
FISHING
Esnagi Lake is a world class inland fishery for walleye, northern pike, perch and whitefish. Anglers have been travelling to Esnagi for over 75 years to experience the thrill of catching arm aching numbers of chunky golden walleye, of landing long and thick voracious northern pike, and pulling 6-8lb whitefish up from the cool depths.
The 45km (27 mile) long lake has numerous islands, shoals, points, humps, flats and weed beds that provide anglers of all ages and skill with ample opportunity to catch their favourite specie of fish.
The Northern Way is located in the heart of Esnagi lake, providing our guests with quick access to the prime fishing holes all day long and after their evening meal. This means more time with their line in the water and fish on their hooks.
To ensure the quality of the fishery remains for generations to come, we are committed to encouraging our guests to practice catch and release and to not take fish home. It’s the Northern Way.
Please ensure that you have purchased your fishing licenses prior to arrival at The Northern Way. The following link provides you with the information you require to do so. Should you have any questions please reach out to us.
Upon arrival, all guests will be asked to provide TNW Crew members with their fishing licenses.
We take pride in providing exceptional equipment for our guests to use while on the water at The Northern Way.
Our 16 foot aluminum boats come equipped with subfloors for your safety and comfort. Padded boat seats will keep you feeling fresh for the entire day out on the lake, and bilge pumps, rod and net holders, Garmin fish finders and Yamaha 25 HP four stroke motors with electric start come standard.
PFDs and fish finders are provided; however, our guests are welcome to bring their own, to ensure they are comfortable finding the fish and staying safe on the water.
The Northern Way ensures that all of our marine equipment is maintained and inspected for optimal and worry-free performance. Our guests are responsible for any damage to the equipment while under their care.
ON THE DOCK
The Northern Way Dock Crew is at your service from 7am to 10pm. During these hours your boating, bait, and fish cleaning needs will be taken care of. If you intend to stay out past 10pm, please let one of the Dock Crew know so we can ensure you return safely.
Complimentary fish cleaning services are not offered after 10pm. Should you require fish to be cleaned please ask one of the Crew during our dock hours and they will be happy to do so.
We recommend first time guests hire one of our experienced guides for their first day or two to make the most of their trip. Our guides will go through your tackle and make recommendations, then show you how, where and when to fish certain areas of the lake. They will also prepare and cook the shore lunch for those guests who elect to spend some time stretching their legs on dry land and enjoying fresh caught fish cooked over an open fire.
The Northern Way sells tackle that we know works on Esnagi. That being said, a lot of tackle works! We encourage our guests to bring the tackle that works for them.
CONSERVATION
Esnagi Lake is a world class fishery, and this hasn’t happened by chance.
For decades, the Lodges on Esnagi have encouraged their guests to practice catch and release. The Northern Way is committed to doing everything we can to ensure that guests who visit Esnagi Lake continue to experience some of the most productive fishing in Northern Ontario.
We encourage all of our guests to purchase Conservation fishing licenses and enjoy their catch during their stay, release all walleye over 22 inches, as well as pike over 28 inches and choose not take fish home.
We all play a role in ensuring that after every visit to Esnagi, you leave with new fish tales and big smiles.
